October 11 Council Meeting - NEW

FYI, there will be NO STUDY SESSION for this Tuesday's October 11 meeting, since there's not much to study.

Ironically, one of the agenda items is to decide whether or not we will continue to even have study sessions. This is agenda item #11

Also of note is a Structure Abatement Appeal, which is item #7. This relates to action taken against property located at 522 North Riley. If you want details of why this property was placed in abatement, click on the title of this post above. From there click on Item #7

In regards to Item #7: I Watched this meeting online. Seems like you were very harsh on this older lady. This situation smells very bad.

All the urgency to take this poor woman's living from her and you,and the city does not even show up to inspect the property the next day like you said. You were pro condemn? Where are you? If this is such a problem then where is the city?

I have not seen this property but i'm sure that it is just one of many properties that should be abated in the core area of LE. What we don't need is another empty lot. I think that the City should adopt an ordinance for these property Owners that own ALL of the empty lots along Graham, Lakeshore, Riverside Dr. and so on. They have so many years to construct on them or the Cities RDA takes the property and redevelops it. On Riverside Dr. there was a house there with a fortune teller living in it, she moved and less then a month someone tore it down. Another empty lot to add to soooooooo many which makes our town look like a dirt, weed field, ghetto. The City/RDA needs to get on these property Owners that have sat on these parcels for way to long. Develop it or lose it.It would bring jobs to locals, sales tax revenue to the City, and property tax money for building and it would really change the look of our town.

I am very disappointed in the way Councilwoman Melendez conducted herself with the property owner. It was very unprofessional and downright rude to speak to the elderly lady in the tone and manner that you did. A real shame.

I like when you get off the Ortega to turn onto Grand, big sign "Welcome to Lake Elsinore" "Dream Extreme" and all you see is weeds and trash splattered all up and down the chain link fence. Great impression...........good job Lake Elsinore!!!!!!
